Junk Removal Checklist: How to Prepare for Your Pickup

A little preparation before your junk removal appointment makes the job faster and cheaper. Here is what to do before our crew arrives.

Before Your Appointment

1. Identify Everything You Want Removed

Walk through your home and identify every item you want removed. The more specific you are, the more accurate your estimate will be. If you are not sure about an item, set it aside and decide when the crew arrives.

2. Separate Items You Want to Keep

Move items you want to keep away from the junk. If you are clearing a garage, move your car and anything you want to keep to one side. This prevents confusion and speeds up the job.

3. Check for Hazardous Materials

We cannot haul paint, chemicals, asbestos, tires, or medical waste. If you have these items, set them aside. We will let you know where to dispose of them properly.

4. Clear a Path

Make sure our crew can access the items. Clear a path from the items to the nearest exit. If items are in a basement or attic, make sure the stairs are clear.

5. Take Photos for Your Records

If you are doing an estate cleanout or a large job, take photos before the cleanout for your records. This is especially useful if you need to document the condition of the property.

Day of Your Appointment

Be Available for the Estimate

Our crew will give you a flat-rate quote before any work starts. Be available to walk through the job with them. If you cannot be present, designate someone who can make decisions about what to remove.

Point Out Everything

Show the crew everything you want removed, including items in closets, attics, and basements. It is easier to add items at the start than to call us back for a second trip.

Ask About Donation

If you have items in good condition, let us know. We will sort them for donation to Goodwill, Salvation Army, and Habitat for Humanity ReStore. We can provide a donation receipt on request.

After the Job

Inspect the Space

Walk through the space after the crew finishes to make sure everything was removed. If anything was missed, let us know before the crew leaves.

Leave a Review

If you are happy with the service, a Google or Yelp review helps other customers find us and helps our crew. We appreciate every review.

Common Questions

Do I need to be home? Yes, for the initial estimate and to confirm the job. You do not need to stay for the entire job if you have other things to do.

What if I have more junk than expected? We will give you an updated quote on-site. You can decide whether to proceed with the additional items.

Can you take items from inside my home? Yes. Our crew carries items from anywhere in your home: bedrooms, basements, attics, and garages. That is what we are there for.

Ready to schedule? Call (310) 754-5567 or fill out the quote form. We respond within 2 hours.
